From the initial Quantum state to the final Kvant state under the Frank Harris operator.
This workshop will bring together Frank Harris' former and present students, research scientists and teaching Faculty members to celebrate his career achievements and scientific life. The workshop will review recent developments in the theoretical and computational aspects of molecular and materials sciences, and to promote collaborations. The emphasis is placed on theoretical methods and computational approaches of general applicability to molecular systems and materials.

Venue.

The Concepts of mathematical physics in chemistry workshop will honor Prof. Frank Harris and will take place in the quiet and picturesque region of Playa del Carmen in the Mexican Caribbean on December 10 - 13, 2014 at the Iberostar Quetzal Hotel Resort, whose inspiring surroundings will be the frame for intense scientific exchange in formal and informal discussions.

Aims and Scope.

The Workshop is intended to deal concepts of mathematical physics in chemistry, i.e fields in which Prof. Harris has made an impact. However new ideas and developments are welcome in areas related to --but not limited--:
  • Electronic and structural properties of atoms and molecules.
  • Nanostructured materials.
  • General methods for electronic structure studies.
  • Quantum dynamics in complex systems.
  • Quantum confinement effects.
  • High resolution short-time spectroscopy.
  • Extended and periodic systems.
  • Chemical dynamics and reactivity.
  • Relativistic effects in atoms and molecules.
  • Atom and molecule manipulation.
  • Molecular Modelling.
